Chinese, New, Year, Los, Angeles

Today is the 5th day of the Chinese New Year and Felicia and I have been celebrating for the last week or so.   We started with a small “Reunion Dinner” with family and friends on the eve of CNY, then followed it up with a couple visits from friends to our house.  Then invited two of our nieces over for the weekend so Felicia could teach them some of her traditions for one of the worlds most celebrated holidays.

Much like American holidays – CNY revolves around lots of food, family, friends and lots of gifts (Usually money stuffed into red envelopes).  It’s a time to gather your loved ones and celebrate happiness, wealth and longevity.  Felicia really gets into this time of year, and I completely support the addition of another holiday where I eat too much and hope for a year filled with happiness and wealth.   Nothing wrong with that.

In addition to showing Madalyn and Regan all about Chinese New Year, we spent part of their weekend in Burbank at Griffith Park riding the Carousel, picnicking and taking a hike through some overgrown pathways.

Burnt, Toast, Kitchen, Fire

And, the last thing I learned this weekend: Toast can actually ignite and have rolling flames billowing off the slice.  It’s been 3 days and our kitchen still smells of smoke…
