Matthew and Katie came to me for their wedding photography after I had photographed two of Matt’s other band mates wedding celebrations (Avi+Angie and Justin+Christa) – they had already seen me in action and heard great things. Since I had already hit it off so well with Matt’s friends, I went into this shoot knowing Matt and Katie had to be pretty damn chill people – and needless to say, I wasn’t let down.
Their engagement session included wandering around their loft building downtown, hitting up their favorite spot for Manhattans, catching the L.A. views from Bunker Hill and then finishing up on the 4th street bridge as the sky turned to twilight with the city laid out behind us.
It was a damn fine way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I had a great time getting to know these two.
See you both next summer at your wedding!

A couple weeks back Kenny I headed to the Altadena Country Club to photograph the wedding of Laura and Ross. These two are both from the south and along with their families and friends, everyone was glowing smiles maintained that glorious southern charm the entire day!
It was a pleasure to be a part of the celebration. Congratulations again you two and have a great summer in Alabama!
May 15th, 2015:
A couple weeks ago Kenny and I had the privilage to capture John + Lynda’s wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. These two were both constantly smiling and you could see the joy they have for each other through all their actions. This joy, combined with their unique sense of humor (that aligned exceedingly well with my own), made things super fun and relaxed while we photographed their celebration.
I trust you both are having an epic time in Thailand and I can’t wait to hear the travel stories! Congrats!
May 6th, 2015:
A couple weeks back, Kenny and I headed out on a grey and overcast morning to the McCormick Home Ranch in Camarillo to photograph Megan + John’s big day. About 10 minutes before Megan arrived, it started raining (good luck, right?) and as she and her girls pulled up the sky was giving off one of those gentle spring mists. Unfazed, Megan headed to the bridal room, started getting ready and poured a drink. Within 30 minutes the rain stopped and the skies opened up into a perfect Californian spring day, with blue skies and epic orange light.
The rest of the day went of without a hitch and I had a fantastic time celebrating with these two and Megan’s family for a second time (we shot her sister, Katie’s wedding, a few years back)! I hope you two are still enjoying the honeymoon!
May 5th, 2015:
Last week I spent an early morning with Amber and Mike photographing their engagement session at an outdoor garden in Pasadena and then inside the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. They first met inside one of the lounges at the Nokia, and it was great to tie in a bit of their history with their engagement pictures. Amber + Mike were both smiles for each other the entire morning and totally played along as I climbed on a bar and shot through the chandelier, and wandered around the vast theater – I couldn’t have asked for a better session on this wonderful spring morning.
Congrats again to you both and I’ll see you in October!
May 1st, 2015:
The second half of our trip in Ireland (check out Part one here), was through the south of Ireland – hitting up Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, and Cork before heading back to the airport trying to visit every castle we passed (of which there are quite a few). Our niece Madalyn kept me on my toes the entire time and brought an energy to Felicia and I that we may have forgot about. My only regret was that it was only a 10 day trip….
Although, to be fair we did end up with a bonus night in London because Madalyn and I (despite running like mad bastards through the airport), missed our connecting flight back to L.A. – No harm done though, this kid just agreed that we should spend the night exploring the city and seeing what there is to see.

Madalyn even took a chocolate making class with our AirBnB host, David – if you are in Cork I highly encourage you to stay with David and Angie, who are easily some of the best AirBnB hosts we’ve ever come across.
Madalyn and I kissed the Blarney stone on the high walls of the Blarney castle.
These ruins are officially called “Hore Abbey”, to which Madalyn began innocently screaming “It’s an abbey full of hores!” (Honestly not knowing what a ‘hore’ would refer to.) This topic quickly devolveded into a nice conversation about the worlds oldest profession from her aunt and uncle…
Thank you Madalyn for this amazing experience and I can’t wait until we get to go on another adventure!

Jennifer + CJ’s wedding at the Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert was a heart warming affair packed with friends and family all there to support these wonderful women. The weather was perfect and Kenny and I had an amazing time celebrating with them both and getting to know everyone.

I am a strong believer in the transformative power of travel. It enlightens you, inspires creativity and brings a understanding that your “way” is not the only way. I feel so strongly about this that about a decade ago, when my niece Madalyn was about 3 years old, I made her a promise that when she turned 13 years old I would take her anywhere in the world she wanted to go. Since I made that promise I have met Felicia (my wife) in Tibet, have traveled to about 40 countries, and started a full blown photography business, always knowing that 2015 would be Madalyn’s first trip out of the U.S.
She chose Ireland about a week after I first made her this offer, and stuck with it during the intervening decade. So last month, her and I boarded a plane at LAX and headed off to meet Felicia for 10 days of adventures exploring castles, eating cottage pie, and generally running amok about this corner of the old world.
Theres not really much to say other than that Madalyn made one of the most badass travelers I have ever met. She tried everything, ate everything and maintained a kinetic energy that had Felicia and I struggling to keep up. I won’t say that I am travel-jaded, but when traveling with a 13 year old to whom everything is new and exciting, I definitely had to try and keep up. As much as I preach the inspirational power of travel, Madalyn reminded me to see the new and exciting in the everyday. – Thank you Madalyn.

About our 4th day of the trip we were able to meet up with Jake + Noelle, whose wedding we photographed last summer and who are currently on a 9 month around the world trip – check out their travel blog here. It was wonderful to catch up and always amazing to hear more stories from the road.

We first met Joseph way back in 2011 at his son’s Michael’s wedding, Felicia and always remembered him as a talkative man, with a sense of humor and a open, candidness about him. So, when Joseph called me a few months back and told me he would be marrying Ilana in the spring, I was excited to meet her and thrilled to capture their day. As I got to know these two better, I could see the easy relationship that was there and the joy they have in finding each other. Cara (my second photographer) and I had a wonderful afternoon as their wedding was celebrated at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades on a delightful spring day, surrounded by their loved ones.
Congrats again to you both! Have an wonderful life together!
