Finally Something Local

Day: 216

Finally I got away from the beach for an hour and was able to wander downtown looking for some version of local culture. Unfortunately , I didn’t seem to find anything. It appears that this entire city has sold its soul to tourism. It is slightly sad, but it also makes me a little happy; if everyone keeps coming here (or places like this) for vacation then they will stay away from the truely pristine places in the world.

More for me to enjoy!

No Party, No Cry

Day: 215

After another morning of writing/blogging/video editing I made my way to the beach for a couple of hour just to see what was going on. I took some pictures of some random Canadian hotties and chilled out in the shade. At this point I realized that I had nothing I “had” to do for the rest of the day! This excited me because the last few days have been go, go, go.

My apperance had been made, and I decided to sneak back to my hotel for an early afternoon siesta.

The night passed just as mellow as I had wanted it to. I wandered alone through Cancun (walking instead of taking a taxi), ate dinner alone, had a couple of beers alone and finally walked home alone to watch a movie on cable in my room alone. Its great to spend some quality time with my favorite person in the world. This throng of surging humanity here in Cancun can get on my nerves sometimes.

Oh well, tomorrow I return in full force!

Rockstars Have Kidnapped Me

Day: 214

I know the content of my posts on “Mom Says…” is really slowing down. Please forgive me, I have been so busy writing, shooting and editing for the AE site that I just haven’t had as much time as I’d like to keep up this site. I guess it’s fair since I get paid to blog on their site!

Anyways, my Spring Break is about half over now and I haven’t gave myself alcohol posioning or managed to piss off too many people. I am very comfortable with my position here and I think the next couple of weeks are going to be even more fun than the last.

More Beach, More Celebrities.

Day: 212

My trips down to the beach have started to get a pattern to them. Everyday I get up around 9 or 10, do a couple hours worth of blogging for the American Eagle site, get lunch and try to make it to the beach by around 1pm when thing usually start to get crazy.

Today when I showed up Jamie Kennedy was about to go on our stage to promote his new movie, Kicken It Old Skool, Throwing booty shorts to the girls and having a Break Dancing competition. I took a hundred pictures or so of the afternoon, and shot some video of the Break Dancing.

During the evening I was planning to go out to a club with everyone, but after the American Eagle people took 20 of us to an Argentinan Steak House (You all know I couldn’t pass that up & I had steak, of course) I was so full and exhausted. After dinner, where I was almost falling asleep at the table at 1am, I just went back with a few of the others and called it an early night well everyone else partied their asses off.

It’s Official!

Day: 211

I think I hit my limit, I am going to have to take it easy for a few days if I want to make it through this month with any sembalance of health left. The tricky part is I still have to go to all these parties and keep getting coverage, I can’t just pack up my car and head into the mountains for some camping.

On another note, The American Eagle higher-ups have all complimented me on the content that I am providing, so at least I have that going for me. Life is pretty good down here otherwise though, I am well taken care of and the sand is smooth and enjoyable on my feet.

The So Called “Jungle Tour”

Day: 210

So I headed over to the tour desk at the hotel today to look into doing something different today.

Jungle Tour? That sounds interesting. Should be fun and exciting.

Without even bothering to get the details of what I would be doing, I signed up. I wandered the beach talking to some Australian girls waiting the half an hour until I had to be at the Marina to get on my tour.

When I got to the desk at the tour office they had me start filling out liability releases and telling me: “Everything will get soaked.”

Wait a minute? I thought we were just going to the Jungle? The jungle doesn’t normally consist of getting soaked. Unless, of course, it’s raining. Which it wasn’t. The “soaked” fact made me have to leave my camera behind (If you knew me, you’d know I am almost never without a camera, and any trip without one would make me sad). Plus I wasn’t going to be able to get pictures for the AE site, which was a real bummer.

Anyways; they passed out life jackets, snorkels, masks and fins; I was still slightly confused. But being a man of adventure I went with it. Snorkeling is always good time, and even if I wasn’t seeing Maya Temples like I thought, it couldn’t turn out too bad…. Could it?

I was right! It wasn't bad at all! In fact it was a great day anyways, they stuck us on these little boats (the only picture I could get...) and we raced around the lagoon, bouncing over choppy seas for about 30 minutes until we got to this coral reef. The guides tied up our little boats and sent us off exploring the reef!

After a while of seeing an assortment of fish, stingrays, coral and beautiful blue water, we got to get back on our motorcycle-like boats and ride back to the marina. My guides (Ruben and Guillermo) took a picture with me, so I’d have something to post with this story and I was on my way back to the beach. A smile from ear to ear.

Afternoon turned out quite spectacular anyways, but you will have to wait a few more days to see an actually jungle. (I Promise to find it here!)

During the evening/night I headed off to another Music thumping club to go to a White Party (like the Green Party, without the politics). I may not be the first to say this, but I my have to take it easy on the drinking for a few days…. (famous last words.)

A side note: Some of the writing I am putting up here is the same as the AE site, but since mine is going to continue and that site will only be up a couple of months, I want it here also.

Where’s The Line?

Day: 209

So, if your job is to party, what are you supposed to do when you get a night off?

Studentcity.com, the company that is working with AESpringbreak.com down here has set me up with a Gold wrist band. Normally the gold is reserved for minor Celebrities like the Cast of Laguna Beach or the Real Worlders that are running around here, but somehow I managed to get one also! It gives me VIP access and All-You-Can-Drink to six different clubs on six different nights, but on Thursdays the students go on a Booze cruise (which I could go on if I want) and it is normally the night everyone recouperates before the weekend. I decided it would be best to follw suit, what with an expected new and fresh 6000 students coming in in the next two days.

My night consitisted of editing an hours worth of footage to get two one minute videos, eating some mexican food, drinking a couple of Coronas and going to the movies. I saw Pathfinder , It was awful, don’t see it.
