February 16th, 2011:
When Natalie contacted me about her engagement session with Justin, we bantered back and forth about locations and finally decided on starting around Pasadena City Hall and wandering on from there. Justin and Natalie love living in Pasadena almost much as Felicia and I love our town of Burbank. We got to talking with this couple and Felicia found, much to her amazement, that there are other people in the world who just like to walk the streets of their town, and refer to it as an “adventure”. Much to my dismay, I am taken on such “adventures” quite often… Although I can’t really complain, because the company is exactly who I want to be with.
Justin and Natalie are big fans of strolling around a pretty neighborhood, so after we an hour and a half walking around the downtown area, we jumped in their car and headed to some of their favorite residential streets to have a walking “adventure”. Justin played tour guide, and in between posing for pictures with Natalie, gave us a running commentary with trivia about the various vintage craftsman homes, which my wife ooh-ed and aah-ed over. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so thrilled during a shoot before!
We were also fortunate to have perfect weather the entire afternoon and we had a fantastic time talking about everything from Anchorman to dimsum, to the thickness of a buffalo’s skull (yes, really)!
While we were driving to this session, we passed these pink trees which Felicia spotted and excitedly yelled “Pink trees! Pink trees!”. She knows me so well, and of course I had Natalie and Justin walk past these with us.
Thanks for all the “adventures” and we look forward to your wedding this summer!
