When Ashley contacted us last year, Rob asked if I wanted to shoot a wedding all the way south in Temecula on my birthday. I decided that Ashley sounded like a really cool person in her emails, so we went ahead and met up with her. Within the first 5 minutes of conversation, I knew that spending my birthday with Ashley (and James) would be acceptable.
Well, it turned out that I wasn’t entirely right: they were beyond acceptable: they were AWESOME! Ashley & James were super laid-back, fun to be around, and made our jobs so easy by being their wonderful selves, and were an absolute joy to photograph.
Despite the stress preceding the wedding day – for them and for us – about the raging wildfires in Fallbrook / San Marcos, their wedding day at Secluded Garden Estate in Temecula was perfect: the weather was amazing, the sky was blue, and there wasn’t a hint that there were fires not too far away.
The ceremony, officiated by Ashley’s father, was moving, sentimental, and genuine; and then they had so much fun at the reception where guests were treated to a surprise performance by Moroccan dancers, a nod to Ashley’s family heritage.
Though a wedding day is still a lot of hard work, it was a worthwhile way to spend my birthday: by celebrating the union of two incredible people whom we are so happy for.
Congratulations, Ashley & James!
