July 11th, 2011:
Daniel is one of my oldest and best friends, I have known him for about 20 years – he was one of my Groomsmen in Singapore and took part in our ceremony. He met Scherrie a few years ago while working in the Bay area and they instantly knew they were right for each other. When he proposed I was stealthily hidden behind some beach towels to capture the entire event. In the last couple years Felicia and Scherrie have began to develop a tight knit friendship of their own, blossoming from mocking the stupid shit Daniel and I do – where one of us either manages to get hurt or make a fool of ourselves (this is more common than you would like to know). Earlier this year we all headed out to Death Valley to spend a couple nights camping and shoot one of my favorite engagement sessions I have done to date.
For the last year or so, Daniel and Scherrie have been living in San Diego, so they decided to have their big day there. When Daniel asked if I wanted to be in the wedding party or photograph the day, I instantly said “Photograph!” (because I didn’t trust anyone else), and in the end they decided to not even have a wedding party – because what is a party without me?
Needless to say, their day was visually stunning, with locations on Coronado Island, Balboa Park and the US Grant Hotel. Felicia and I are thrilled for you both and are thankful to have friends like you two! Congrats!
My second brother Matt officiated. He is an ordained minister and also a good friend of Daniel’s.
Scherrie didn’t give Daniel a chance after he smudge cake on her nose. Ooh boy, Daniel, you better not mess with her…
