Felicia and I met first Anaid and Justin a year ago when we shot their springtime engagement session. Annie had kept us updated about her wedding plans, visions and ideas, and we were definitely excited about being part of their big day with their closest friends & family, on the ranch where Justin grew up.

Anaid did a great job in making her vision of a beautiful backyard wedding come to life. Felicia was especially enamored with the use of vintage blue mason jars as vases, which Anaid revealed, were sitting around on the ranch, so she didn’t even have to go hunting for them! (For those of you who don’t read Martha Stewart Weddings magazine or shoot weddings every week, blue Mason jars are extremely sought-after for weddings right now. I never thought I would know these things, but I do now)

Here’s a secret: Felicia is mildly obsessed with these Mason jars. Last year she acquired a few that are stamped 1858 and was dizzy with excitement for days. I guess I can’t really complain if my wife, who has no interest in shopping, jewelry or gems, gets excited over collecting old jars and gun-shaped sticks….

We initially thought that some wedding pictures with Mr Alapaca would be cute, but this pesky fella and his other furry brethren were simply not in the mood for pictures. Justin warned us that they do spit – and with quite some range – so we decided against hassling them too much.

The skies were ominously overcast all day, but besides a few drops of rain before the ceremony, the weather held up — that is, until 10pm when a small drizzle started. Not bad for having a 70% chance of rain forecast!
