Rings on pair of Nastar – delicious Indonesian Pineapple Tarts!  I was offered one and ended up slowly stuffing my face with their deliciousness. Deviously delicious little morsels of delectable-ness!  (Did I overuse the D’s?)

Anthony & Yenny are an Indonesian-Chinese couple who have also made the move across the Pacific and are now settled in Southern California. They are the sweetest people who quickly developed an affinity for my Singaporean wife (Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, is a mere hour-and-a-half flight from Singapore), whose knowledge of their customs & culture and halting grasp of Bahasa Indonesia helped bridge any cultural differences.

Much like our own wedding, Anthony & Yenny’s family also flew halfway around the globe to be with them on this special occasion – and brought those delicious nastar cookies with them.  Which I, in my gluttony, help to consume.

Now, I am a man (Rawr!), and I see many weddings which are extremely heartfelt, but for some reason when Anthony said his simple vows to Yenny, it really tugged at my heartstrings, I felt thoroughly moved listening to his words.  It was simple, powerful and poignantly delivered. (But no, I didn’t cry. Really.)

Anthony busted out a surprise rendition of  “La-La Means I Love You” by The Delfonics to serenade Yenny at the reception.

After their lunch reception we headed to Pasadena City Hall for a portrait session.   I can’t tell you how awesome it is to not have to worry about getting the Bride and Groom to the reception on time, and just have everyone relaxed and having fun for these pictures.

Au revoir to white shoes for our brides, this summer, pops of color have been all the rage.

The final picture was the last one I shot of the day and it was Yenny’s idea.  She wanted to have her bouquet in her hands and her arms wrapped around her new husband.  Unfortunately, she had forgot the bouquet at the reception but its lack definitely doesn’t show in such an epic image of this couple.

Did you know?: Indonesia is the world’s 4th most populous nation (behind China, India and the USA), with 237 million people.  (Random Travel Fact)
