Sept 15th, 2010:
After a crazy busy summer of shooting approximately 80,000 wedding pictures, Felicia and I found ourselves with a small break, when all the editing was complete, and we had nothing scheduled before our next wedding a couple of weeks away. I had purposely tried to arrange this little gap in our schedule, so we could squeeze in a much needed little jaunt to the Sierra Nevadas (specifically Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks).
By comparison to the amount we shot this summer, the 700+ pictures we shot during our little getaway was nothing, but I still thought I would post a few of my favorites, seeing how this blog did originate with a travel theme. If some of the pictures seem a little smoky/hazy it’s because there is a giant fire filling Kings Canyon with smoke, which created some awesome atmosphere, but less than awesome respiratory conditions…
These two above are by Felicia, every picture she takes gets more amazing, and she absorbs anything I have to teach like a sponge. Sometimes when editing, I smile to myself because I am astounded by her blossoming photographic eye.
The smoke filling Kings Canyon.
$5 Trader Joe’s Champagne. The crazy part is, when reading the bottle, it is actually made in France! (and quite delicious too, even though Felicia labeled it as too bubbly)
I look haggard, but throughly happy. Again, the smoke from the Sheep’s Creek fire fills the distance.
Felicia playing with the fire.
After an amazing week together, completely devoid of cell phones, email, and internet, we came home recharged and surprised that our little house seemed to have grow in size (although I have a feeling it is just gigantic compared to my ultralight tent…)
