Day: 389
La Paz is one of the places in the world I have heard the worst horror stories from other travelers about, everything from kidnapping you for your credit card PIN numbers, to assulting you in dark alleys, to taxi drivers who physically attack you with wrenches. Needless to say I was extremely wary.
For the better part of the last week we had been sick and holed up in one small area, and anytime I went out itwas with an extreme sense of caution (primarly because after meeting so many people actually hurt in this city, I wasnt interested in becoming another travel crime statistic).
Felicia and I did manage to spend some time walking throughout the city during the day throughout the last couple of days, and cabbing it at night to go to some of the fanciest resturaunts (which cost roughly $6 for the best thing on the menu), without any trouble, but we could see so many possibilities where something could have happened to us had we not been wary.
I am only writing this to confirm the tales that this place is a little dangerous, but primarly (it seems to me) for those who make themselves stand out as easy targets, and if you take a little caution it is a hectic experience in a jammed packed, mountainous town.

I like La Paz. It’s the cheapest city where I can woo you with fancy dinners!
