Day: 315
Well, I thought, I like beer, and I like flesh, so why not order something named bierfleisch?
After a day of doing chores, sleeping in, napping, taking pictures and trying to plan my next Bavarian move, I had decided to treat myself to a nicer dinner. This is exactly what Aaron was trying to find his last few days here, and we never did (in Salzburg… which might have been too touristy). I found a pleasant Beer Garden, Bayerischer Lowe, who had their own micro brewed beer and an extensive menu of German food for relatively cheap. I felt like I cheated Aaron. Sorry dude.
The Waitress had offered me a menu in English but I declined; I find it’s never as much fun if you can’t at least try to decipher the menu and then be surprised by what comes to the table. Fortunately, Bierfleisch, is exactly what it sounds like; flesh of an animal cooked in beer. I know a particular carnivore who would have loved it. Washed down with a couple of beers it made for the end of a satisfying day recovering from the last week of debauchery.
Tomorrow I will try to head into the Bavarian National Forest (if I can get a reservation at the hostel) for some hiking and outdoorsy activities, so there is a possibility that you won’t hear from me for a couple of days; but really who knows, even the trees seem wired nowadays.

yaay, mystery meat in foreign languages! woo hoo!
at least it isn’t cyrillic or Chinese this time 🙂
Love the pic of the Bierfleisch. The pics of the landscape and european buildings are so awsome, it makes me want to get on a plane and be there during the remaining portion of the Autumn colors.
Hey Rob,
I did a “Google” and saw there are three bridges over a major river in Passau. What is the name of the river and is the architecture worth a photo?
Also, Do you have any plans to swing by Gryon for a break/vacation? Should be good pics of fall colors.
My god, I drop off the face of the earth for two months, turn around, and you’re in Bavaria! Happy to see your letting your stomach lead you. 😉 Have fun and keep up the amazing photography.
grrrrrrrrr!
Hi Rob,
I think I know of a carnivore who would like bierflesh as well. Did you get enough to eat? It didn’t look like much. Was it expensive? Hope you are doing well. Thanks for sending Aaron home. Wish you could have walked him to the train. Oh Well, Love you, Mom

Trees! You’re kidding right? Did you do your laundry in a movie theater?
