Day: 239
With full intention to be completely over my jet lag, I rolled out of bed this morning to a breakfast of vegetable dumplings. The days intention was to see other sections of the city that I didn’t take in in my whirlwind tour yesterday morning (which is to say I didn’t see much).
I started in the direction of a couple of towers and was quickly distracted with the gardens that surrounded the Forbidden City. I wandered into a tulip show and spent the better part of the morning taking pictures of tulips and watching elderly Chinese do Tai Chi. After a couple more parks, lakes and crowded public areas, I was drifting off. I returned to my hostel for another nap, setting my alarm (on my new watch!) to be up in a few hours for some late afternoon pictures.
I really hope this is the last of the jet lag and I promise this will be the last day I bitch about it. After this I am just going back to calling myself a lazy S.O.B. I did meet an Aussie fellow who has slept the better part of 4 days, trying to get over his flight from New York.
I booked a tour to the Great Wall tomorrow, took a few walks and ate some dinner, finished with some beers and an early night. I think I am getting old…

What a cool city Rob. I hope you get over the jet-lag soon. We are looking forward to a great adventure with you in China!
Take care, love Dad.
That jet lag sucks. When I went to Australia on business I just forced myself to stay up the entire first day I was there. Considering I only slept a few hours on the flight I was walking dead by the time that night rolled around, but I was out at 8:30, slept until about 8 in the morning, and was jet lag free the rest of the trip. I think it’s those naps that’s really kill you by keeping you somewhat on your old schedule.
BTW, you’re in China! That’s so awesome!
Sounds like you were birding just doing it with flowers… ewha?
