Sami + Amanda brought it! These two charmed the camera with their constant laughter and sheer enjoyment of each other, I couldn’t have asked for anything else at Pasadena City Hall engagement session!

Three dresses and a lion dance?! Jodi + Eugene’s wedding in Pasadena earlier this month had those things, plus their big personalities, family and they even sat Brett and I down with their guests for a 10 course Chinese banquet. At the end of the night I left the evening completely stuffed and with my cameras full of image!
Congrats to you both and thanks for having me there!

Rain is good luck on your wedding day, right? Well then, Andrew and Natalie killed it on the luck front and it looks like they’ll have the luckiest Southern Californian marriage I have seen yet. Despite the steady April drizzle, these two smiled throughout the day, laughed with their family and friends, and celebrated their new life together without a thought about the weather.
Congrats to you both and thanks for letting me join the excitement!

Rain on a wedding day is good luck right? Especially when it’s that randomly unseasonable October rain that flickered by for 10 minutes during Ian + Rhianna’s wedding celebration in Pasadena last weekend. It caused absolutely no issues other than providing some cool overcast clouds for Kenny and I while we captured their day.
Congrats again to you two! Celebrating with you was a blast!

Intimate backyard weddings are my absolute favorite, they are all about family, friends and each other. There is just something about celebrating at home that creates a spectacular vibe for the wedding day. Maybe it’s that no one feels the need to conform to that list of “Must Do’s”, or that the bride and groom are just at peace and comfortable. Whatever that intangible is, Joel + Sonja didn’t disappoint when it came to their backyard celebration in Altadena. The entire day was just about each other and their favorite people.
Congratulation you two!
If you thinking about having a backyard wedding of your own, I highly encourage it and if you want to see some of my other favorite backyard weddings, check out Raul + Zelana, Dana + Andrew, Shannon + Garrett or John + Alisa.

Last week I spent an early morning with Amber and Mike photographing their engagement session at an outdoor garden in Pasadena and then inside the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. They first met inside one of the lounges at the Nokia, and it was great to tie in a bit of their history with their engagement pictures. Amber + Mike were both smiles for each other the entire morning and totally played along as I climbed on a bar and shot through the chandelier, and wandered around the vast theater – I couldn’t have asked for a better session on this wonderful spring morning.
Congrats again to you both and I’ll see you in October!

So since it’s right around that time that Sierra and Max are on there way home from their Thailand honeymoon, I figured it was also time to post a blog about their Glendale wedding day from two weeks ago. Kenny and I had a great time photographing these two and their party bus full of exuberant bridesmaids and groomsmen! The day took us from their hotel suites in Glendale to Pasadena City Hall, back to Glendale to the Holy Family Catholic Church for the ceremony, before finally heading to the Palladio reception hall for an epic reception party!
Sierra and Max were wonderful to photograph, and I was thrilled to be part of their day. Congrats again and I hope you both had a fantastic time in Thailand!

We met Vince & Jen just a few months ago, where Vince mentioned that his brother William recommended us. We couldn’t recall his brother by name, and figured that it was someone who probably saw our work online.
Turns out his brother was the Apple Genius who helped us out when we brought in Rob’s iMac about 2 years ago. We were having issues with the computer after a firmware update, and William patiently tried to troubleshoot with us. If we remember correctly, it was Amy & Alex’s wedding that was on our computer at that time, and William asked if those were Robert’s work. Being a photography enthusiast, he asked for our card, and eventually recommended us to Vince & Jen!
Life is full of surprises, and we’re glad things came full circle. We had a great time at Vince & Jen’s wedding day, starting with their ceremony at Happy Trails in Pasadena, such a hidden gem of a place, before their Chinese banquet-style reception at Mission 261. Their wedding party was awesome too and so much fun to photograph, it made the 11-hour day breeze by.
Congratulations Vince & Jen, and a BIG thank you to William for the recommendation! Special thanks also to Kenny Song who was our tireless third shooter that day who did an amazing job.

Last week I headed to Cal Tech and Pasadena City Hall for Jennifer and Daniel’s engagement shoot. Since they live in the neighborhood, they are well-acquainted with these architectural landmarks, which are also excellent location for photos.
As the sun began to set and we were wrapping up our shoot, Daniel asked what I thought about a unplugged wedding. As many of you know, I am a huge fan of your guests putting away their cameras to be truly present during your ceremony. It lets them celebrate with you instead of being distracted by a device, and it lets me do my job best: capturing the emotions of your closest friends and families, instead of a sea of iPads (those look like cookies sheets in front of people’s faces), smartphones, and cameras. Better pictures, better experience – It’s really a win-win for everyone.
Anyhow, if the fact that these two are just fun to be around wasn’t enough, I am now completely won over as these two start to think about their guests’ wedding experience 9 months before the big day.
Congrats you both and I’ll see you soon at your wedding!

We met up with Alisa & Dino just before Memorial Day weekend, and despite their initial stress of dealing with the pre-holiday traffic, we soon forgot about the evils of LA traffic as we traded travel tales, and discussed the amazingness that is Thailand: where we had, and they will have, their “familymoon”. Yes, a post-wedding trip that involves taking your family with you.
Thanks Alisa & Dino for a fun Friday evening!
