For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you already know that earlier this month I headed off to Colombia for a little getaway – for the rest of you the story goes like this:
At the very end of May it dawned on my that I had a 9 day window where I nothing scheduled and all my editing complete. Not one to let the chance go to waste, I fired up Kayak’s Explore feature (which lets you put in any dates and shows you a map view of cheapest flights anywhere in the world) and I came across a round trip ticket from LAX to Colombia for $251. Super cheap for 8 hours each way.
I’ve never been to Colombia before, so I shot off a message to the only Colombian I know, Simon, and asked for some advice about the area. I originally met Simon online in 2006 as a fellow travel blogger, and then in 2007 we met in person in China and he is now who is a biologist and travels constantly with his fiancee, Tracy and they run a blog called Los Traveling Monkeys (which I highly recommend you check out if you are looking for travel inspiration).
Well, the magic of the world happened to align and he and Tracy, were also going to be on the Colombian Caribbean coast at the same time! He invited me along to stay with him at his “favorite place in the world” (which says a lot, seeing as he’s traveled quite a few countries) and I told him we would find a time to create some engagement pictures for him and his new fiancee.
I’ll have another blog post coming with a little more about my trip, but for now enjoy these two in their favorite spot in the world.
