Singapore, Travel, Photography, Engagement, Wedding

For the last month or so, Felicia and I have been addicted to watching Kayak.com for airfares from LAX to Singapore, looking for that perfect deal. I had not been back to Singapore since our wedding and was excited about visiting the family, friends and of course – food!

Unfortunately for the longest time, even the flights with mediocre flight times were hovering around $1250 each. Unless we wanted to fly China Air through Beijing with 14 hour layovers each way, then it was only $940 (I really did not want to do this, and Felicia even less so.)   I knew tickets on ANA, United or Japan Airlines should be much cheaper (I have flown this route 3 times for around $900 R/T), but those high prices kept staying up there.

Finally one night a killer deal showed up through Airfares.com: Just $940 each on Singapore Airlines on their brand new A380!  We excitedly threw down the credit card and snatched up our tickets knowing we got the best deal possible – the near legendary Singapore Airlines service (at least for me. Felicia disagrees), a brand new plane and the best possible flight time with just a technical stop in Tokyo, how else could we go wrong?!

We immediately let Felicia’s mother know that we would be back in April for a few weeks and smugly patted ourselves on the back for our travel savvy.
What a great deal! Aren’t we awesome? It would be our first flight on the A380 and Felicia was already plotting to secure seats on the upper deck, while I excitedly learnt that every seat came with USB and power connections (Angry Birds all the way across the Pacific for 20 hours? Hmmmmm…..)

Felicia spent the next few hours on the phone with her mother planning their weeklong mother/daughter getaway in Malaysia and I started looking at cheap flights from Singapore to Borneo or Angkor Wat, so I would have something to do while they travel the Cameron Highlands.

The evening passed as we went about planning our trip, and finally, right before we headed to bed for the night, Felicia happened back to Singapore Airlines web page and out of curiosity, searched for the flights we just bought….
