The Day Before Tomorrow:

My life in the last 7 days has become busier than any other point in the past 2 years.  I have shot 2 weddings and attended another, been to Big Bear and the beaches, spent hours upon hours at my computer editing and building a new webpage, spent countless evenings showing Felicia off to assorted friends and family and sometime in the midst of all of that madness I was able to throw all my stuff in my backpack.  I am currently in the midst of burning CD’s full of images for the most recent bride and groom, writing this blog, and cleaning out my computer, so I have plenty of room for the next 3 months worth of pictures.

Other big news:

I have www.RobertPaetz.com up and running, and if you’d like I have about 80 pictures that you can peruse and purchase right through that site.  More pictures will constantly be added, but I am still learning web design so please bear with me.

After about an hour of internal struggle I have decided on a reduced photography kit for this next trip.  Primarily because I feel I am using a mid range zoom (my 24-105mm  f/4) as a crutch, I want to see how I can do without it. Also my 50mm f/1.4 is having focusing troubles again (remember back in April of 2006?), so without the time to have it fixed, it to will have to stay home as well.   That leaves me with my 5D, 35mm f/1.4, 17-40mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, and a 580ex flash.  I don’t know if I’ll be missing that middle range, and if I do, 11 weeks is a long time without it; but I am relatively sure my back will be thankful.

Anyways, thanks to all the readers who have stuck with me through the last 4 months of hiatus, and thanks to all the new readers just checking out my page.  Tonight I board a plane at LAX and fly south to Quito, Ecuador for a week of Spanish classes then 10 more weeks making my way (with Felicia) around Volcanoes,  Salt Flats, the Andes, Machu Picchu, Spanish, Alpacas, the Amazon and the assorted case of ass blasting .
